Network architecture

Dedicated edge PoPs, geo-optimized routing, resilient media caching.

MediaByte operates a specialized edge delivery network designed specifically for high-concurrency streaming and media distribution. By placing points of presence directly in premier regional internet hubs, we ensure minimal latency and consistent throughput for end users.

Global routing

Traffic is steered via intelligent DNS resolution and GeoIP-aware directing, connecting viewers to the topologically optimal PoP. This architecture provides full per-node observability and instantaneous failover control without the convergence overhead of complex BGP multi-homing.

Coverage & PoPs

Our network spans eight dedicated PoPs across Europe, Russia, and North America, strategically situated close to major consumer broadband networks:

  • Europe — Helsinki, Riga, Dronten, Prague, Frankfurt, Tallinn
  • Russia — Moscow
  • North America — New York

Delivery endpoints & protocols

Each edge PoP provides standardized delivery hostnames tailored to specific media formats:

  • hls.<pop> — HLS adaptive bitrate segments (/segments/v2/)
  • dash.<pop> — MPEG-DASH chunks (/dash/v1/chunk/)
  • rtc.<pop> — Ultra-low-latency WebRTC and QUIC transport over UDP/443

The <pop> prefix corresponds to the regional edge identifier from network status (for example, hls.cdn-edge-1.mediabyte.tech).

Caching & reliability

Each PoP features independent edge caching tiers with local SSD storage and origin shielding. Static media and VOD assets are served directly from memory and disk caches, shielding your origins and ensuring zero buffering during traffic spikes.

Designed for media

Tailored transport parameters, optimized TCP congestion controls (BBR), and modern QUIC delivery deliver smooth playback even over congested mobile networks. Get in touch to discuss onboarding and custom peering.
